I want my old Gamertag back but i cant get it.

I changed my Gamertag to a bad one in my opinion. So i have had this Gamertag for a few months now and i want my old one back. Im willing to pay the 10€ but the problem is ,the max letters are 12 and my old gamertag had 15. What can i do?

Unfortunately there is nothing you can do as there was previously an update which reduced the number of letters available for the Gamer Tag, you can try contacting Xbox customer support to see if they can help you. However, it is unlikely that they will be able to do anything, as Gamer Tags are unique and cannot be used again once they have been deleted.

There's no way to know exactly how inactive an account is. It's possible their signing into their account on other Microsoft services which would keep it open.

I guess that's true. But he still only used the account to mod on black ops 2, he's either trying to sell the xbox tag or do something else with it.

You have to cut off 2 digits since you now fall under the new rules
