In order to recover a Microsoft account, you will need to know the email address associated with it. Well if you remember your actual email address password but just don't remember your xbox account password then your in luck. Go to microsoft.com and click on sign in and then click on forgot password. It should send something to your actual email address
so you can reset your password and verify some stuff. Then once you get your account back while still on microsoft's website I suggest adding some proofs to your account like your phone number and alternate email address just to be proactive if anything like
this happens again. Hopefully this helps you.

It really sucks that this feature didn't exist sooner. I lost access to my xbox-only account because when I created it in 2017, my mum threw away the note that I put my password on the day i created it, I couldn't remember the password, played on the account until I lost it in 2019. It was my first roblox account and I had to create it on xbox because I wasn't allowed to use the tablet to play roblox.

That account is long gone and there is no hope at getting it back

When the account was first logged into on the Xbox 360 there was a password attached to it. What happened is you probably clicked remember me so it wouldn't log you out of that account. The same password you used to login to post on the fums you would use
on the xbox as well, unless it's a different account.
