I think I've accidentally deleted all my game save data

A factory reset shouldn't remove your game save data/progress as it's saved in the cloud and not on the console itself. So even if you were to reset and remove everything, it won't affect anything on your account.

The only situation where a reset would clear your save data is if/when it's not synced to the cloud, so it's best to ensure that you're connected to Xbox Live before doing so as explained here:

What are the games in question? Do you recieve any errors, or are the games just prompting you to start again?

If you highlight (not select) the games, press the button with the 3 lines to get the game menu and go to manage games and add-ons, do you see your save data there?

Would the save data happen to be somewhere else? On another hard drive or anything?

And have you uninstalled the game at all since you last played it? Maybe you accidentally deleted your save data as well.

By lost your save data, are you unable to load your game when logging in? Did you accidentally delete the save data? How did it disappear?

What was the one time you lost save data that really bothered you, like accidentally deleting the wrong save or if a save corrupted etc. For me it was when I got a really high rank on halo reach and my save data randomly deleted and I lost everything.

Surely for Reach all your rank data etc would have been saved against tour profile on Bungie/transferred to Halo Waypoint?

I've tried all of the above - and none work.

However, I've now fixed it... and I've done so by deleting all of the game-save data - so I can only assume that it's corrupt game-save data that's causing this.

It didn't work when I just deleted the local (hard disk) game data - as the next time the game started it simply re-syncyed from Xbox Live. I had to delete all game data "Everywhere" - and then the game started afresh, I'd obviously lost all progress and
achievements - but at least it's working again.

The detail for how to do this is quite easy, and I found it after a quick Google:

You can manage your data for individual games through My games & apps on your Home screen. Here’s how you do a "Delete everywhere":

From the Home screen, select My games & apps.

Highlight the game, press the Menu button on your controller, and then select Manage game.

Scroll to the right, highlight the saved data for your gamertag under Saved Data, and then press A on your controller.

You’ll be prompted to confirm deletion of this game save data:

Delete from console will remove the local copy of this save. You can retrieve it from the cloud the next time you play.

Delete everywhere will remove your saved data from this console, the cloud, and all other consoles you play on.

Cancel will leave your data intact.
