    Once you're at the dashboard, press the guide button (the big circular one), press x and sign out if you're already signed in with another profile. Then you should only have to press x again to get the option to log in with your existing profile. It will
    then download, and you're ready to go. Good luck:) Post again if you're still having problems.

    There is no general problem that I am aware of at this time.

    I would advise siging out and try recovering the gamertag. To do this:

    Press the guide button (the Xbox logo in the middle of the controller) then hit the blue "x button" to sign out

    Next select recover gamertag.

    Finally try putting in the required details such as email address and password to see if that method works.

    I've had the same problem. After a few hard resets I managed to get the home screen instead of the black screen, but after doing that the guide doesn't work and I have the same problem with it still controlling the dashboard. I've signed in but can not open
    anything.
