It's not possible for someone to have two different Microsoft accounts with the same email address; the system itself doesn't allow that to happen.

Please note that it may take up to 24 hours for your friend to receive it. However, in this situation, I recommend that you go to the order history of your account using the following link:

From there, you can find the gift code and manually send it to your friend so they can redeem it with the correct account in which they want to have the game.

That last screenshot is the account that redeemed the code. That user's email, which is the same email I send the gift to, is the same email used to log in on her computer using the same Microsoft account! There is no other account. The only logical explanation is that the redeeming process failed for some reason.

But does the email I’m gifting to has to be the same email as his Microsoft account? Or I can just give him the code and he can put it in his account and get the game?
