    i recently bought gta 5 online for my xbox one and it says not compatible do i need to buy...


    all i need to know is if it works on my xbox one i have the account set to allow multiplayer mature games and my account says that I am over the age of 18 do i need to buy regular gta 5 in order to use online or just does it not work at all?.

    Hi Josh!

    Unfortunately, the Grand Theft Auto Online is playable only on Xbox Series X/S console as you can refer to the game description here https://www.xbox.com/games/store/grand-theft-au...

    You can still play the regular GTA V but you can only access the GTA Online when you have the Series X/S console.

    You bought the Xbox series version. Buy the Xbox one version instead. GTA Online is available for both versions.

    GTA 5 is not on the backwards compatible list.

    It has its own Xbox One version of the game.

    If you are wanting to play GTA 5 on the Xbox One you would need to buy the Xbox One version of the game.

    GTA 5 is not backwards compatible. You would need to purchase the Xbox One version in order to play it on the One. GTA 4 is the only GTA game that is compatible at the moment.
