I really want to know if I can check Minecraft username using Xbox gamertag

I am so sorry you are having issues with a lost account. Please keep in mind, this is a user forum, we are not Microsoft.

The username cannot be used in recovery, you must use the tools provided by Microsoft.

You can find your email by directly logging into your account with your phone number.

If this does not work, you can try to look for email receipts on alternative accounts or find accounts you made be logged into on different services.

Minecraft username and Xbox Gamertag are two different concepts. The Microsoft/Xbox account you used for the migration got a random gamertag, it doesn't take the Minecraft username, so if you want to change it you must do it through this website

If you are trying to use the username you had in Minecraft as gamertag and the system puts some numbers in front of a "#" character, it means that gamertag without the numbers is already in use, the numbers are added randomly to identify each account with the same gamertag.

I'm sorry you're having issues with your name on Minecraft. Microsoft cannot help with Mojang Username changes, but can assist with Xbox Gamertag changes and if that is what Mojang meant, the link to change it is here: How to change your Xbox gamertag | Xbox Support

According to the Minecraft help website that J​amie posted, Minecraft Support cannot help users change their names , the system is set up so that users can change their usernames. You can change your username every 30 days if you want. Minecraft Support also cannot assist with a username that is unavailable nor a username with less than three characters

Worst case, you can try to change it via your Mojang account on the 38th day and see if that works. if it is a bug, then Mojang are the only ones who can fix it. I know they sent you here, but I would submit a ticket.

Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately this is the only way to get a gamertag change right now. However, I did want to clarify that your Minecraft Java username is separate from your gamertag. In-game your username will display your Minecraft Java username and not your gamertag. You are free to change your Minecraft Java username as many times as you would like for free after each waiting period. I hope this answered your question.

The Differences Between Gamertag vs Username

With the upcoming migration for Java Edition, there may be some confusion about what Gamertags are and how they differ from Usernames. This article should clear up any confusion about the differences between the two.

Gamertags are used for Microsoft accounts only. If you view your Microsoft account online, you will see your Gamertag as your account name and not your Minecraft Username. Any purchase information and account settings tied to your Microsoft account will display your Gamertag. You can find your Gamertag by signing into https://www.xbox.com/en-US/ and checking the top right.

When playing Minecraft: Java Edition you will see your Username in-game and not your Gamertag. The only time you will see your Minecraft Username is in-game and in your Minecraft account settings. You will still be able to view and change your Minecraft: Java Edition Username as usual on www.minecraft.net. Just navigate to your profile information.
