I previously migrated my Mojang account to Microsoft but it now tells me I need to buy...

Today I tried playing a Minecraft modpack after a fairly long break from Minecraft, however after logging into my Microsoft account on the Minecraft launcher it prompted me to purchase Minecraft again, and it showed I had none of the versions purchased on my account despite previously migrating my Mojang account.

I checked my past E-mails to make sure I wasn't misremembering and it seems I definitely migrated my Mojang account to my Microsoft account back on June 29th, 2022:

I checked other potential emails or usernames for a Microsoft account that I could think of that I may have potentially used, but the only other Microsoft account I ended up accessing didn't have any Minecraft versions purchased either.

Is there any way to determine if this is the account that my Mojang account was migrated to? If this isn't the account that it was migrated to, is there any way to determine which Microsoft account my Mojang account was migrated to and if there is a way to recover it?

    :)

I previously migrated my Mojang account to Microsoft but it now tells me I need to buy Minecraft again.

    Hi Justin,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Xbox Community. I am sorry that you are still prompted that you have to buy the game, even if you already have it in your account due to migration.

As part of our initial troubleshooting, kindly make sure that you are logged in using the same Microsoft account where you purchased the game. If you purchased it from Microsoft store, you may check it by going to: https://account.microsoft.com/billing/orders

Once confirmed that you are using the correct account, please follow my recommendations below.

    1. Delete the Minecraft launcher that exists on your computer.

    2. Restart your computer.

    3. Install legacy Minecraft launcher for Windows.

    https://aka.ms/minecraftClientWindows

Once reinstalled, continue with these instructions.

    1. Open Minecraft launcher.

    2. If you are already logged in, click on your image and Gamer tag in the upper left corner of the screen and then on "Logout".

    3. After logging out, delete all accounts registered in the launcher by clicking on the "X" next to each account.

    4. In the Minecraft launcher, enter the Microsoft email and password.

I want to make sure that your issue will be resolved the soonest. If the steps that I shared did not work on your situation, I recommend that you submit a ticket directly to Minecraft support so you can verify the ownership of your account.

In this way, we can be assured that your case will be logged, attended and monitored in a timely manner. Please use this link:

How to get back access to Minecraft Java Edition after faulty Account Migration?

    I contacted Mojang Support again.

They now tell me that my Mojang Account has not migrated to the Microsoft Account with the same email address, but to some other Microsoft Account.

My Family has 3 other Microsoft Accounts. So I presume it is possibly one of those.

All those Accounts have Minecraft licenses of their own. So possibly I have a Microsoft Account with a double license to Minecraft.

I asked Mojang Support to what account my Mojang Account has migrated. I have yet to receive an answer.

I have to buy minecraft java edition again after playing on a migrated account for months.

So... for whatever reason I tried my old Mojang account email when signing into Microsoft today and it worked. Specifically it worked after I signed in with my Microsoft email, then selecting "switch accounts", then entering the old Mojang email. Even though previously doing so gave me an error message that the account had been migrated. I'm not certain what difference there is between yesterday and today, but I guess I technically no longer have an issue. However I can now no longer access the main Minecraft site as it tells me my access is denied. Oh well. I guess I don't need to send out a ticket anymore anyway.

Microsoft account does not have minecraft anymore.

Originally I bought the game with a mojang account (This was back in 2016 I think)

I then changed the email for the mojang account.

then with the migration, I migrated it to my current microsoft account that is not related to any of the previous emails.

The migration was successful and I was able to play game.

I stopped playing for a while, but after trying to log in with the same microsoft account that worked previously, minecraft was not there anymore.

Since I bought it with a mojang account, there is no record of a purchase/transaction.

    Mojang Account Migration Failure

Thank you Sam but that is what I am doing... I'm attaching my already existing Microsoft accounts to Minecraft and both of the accounts are telling me that they do not have the game. After I migrated my Mojang account to the Microsoft account using the same email. After I Migrated my Mojang account I followed the instructions to press the "< go back" prompt and I did then sign in using the Microsoft account not the Mojang one which I did and I successfully signed on but I can't do anything because the account is telling me that I don't own the game. I however did Migrate and even got the confirmation email on that email as well.

Something of note is that when I signed in on my Microsoft accounts I am being prompted to change accounts to my Mojang account to play the full game when I've already migrated and cannot access the account because it is supposed to be combined with the account signed in with.
