I pre-ordered Diablo IV standard Edition via Battle Net, why can't I download it on my xbox 1?

I apologize but the license of the game on BattleNet is different from the one that is on Xbox or Microsoft Store this is why you will not be able to download the game on Xbox.

damn, the advertising feels extremely misleading. I would have just bought xbox version, I am trying to run the PC versions through Parallels and it doesnt work yet. Reeeefund.

That's because when you order anything through Battle.net, you're ordering the PC version, not the Xbox version.

Smart delivery only works on something bought through the Xbox store page on the Xbox.

As for how to fix it, if you want to play the PC version and the Xbox version, you will have to buy both versions. If the Acti/Blizzard buy out goes through, it may change, but until then you don't have any other option.

Also, I'm not sure if your saves would transfer over to the different systems, I know it does on Microsoft first party titles, but as stated above, this isn't a first party title, yet.

Once you successfully pre-ordered it, try downloading or accessing the game again. Be sure to restart your console.

With regards to this error message you are getting, if it is confirmed that your order went through successfully via https://account.microsoft.com/billing/orders page then you should be able to access the game.

The most common reason for this error to appear are as follow:

1. If you are receiving this, you do not have access to the early access portion of Diablo IV, you need to wait to play the full game when it releases on June 5th at 4pm PST. You will be unable to play early access if you have pre-ordered the standard edition.

2. This includes anyone attempting to access the title via the home sharing option as accounts utilizing this feature are not granted early access. Early Access to Diablo IV is only granted for anyone who pre-orders a Digital Deluxe or Ultimate Edition before the official launch.

3. The official launch for Diablo IV begins on June 5th at 4 p.m. PDT. This is when owners of any edition of Diablo IV can begin their journey.
