I play on the series X , and after a race while in the screen for performance, it just...

It's an issue with the game..happens on both consoles and PCs. There was an update earlier in the week which has helped for some people but still a lot having the issue. Personally, the game had performed perfectly for me until yesterday when it started doing it (on PC). You can try looking through the official forum for possible workarounds etc but, for a good percentage, there simply is no fix and it's a case of waiting till Turn 10 work out why it is happening.

In your case, the game locks you to your Xbox dashboard after a run through the performance selection menus. This issue may be caused by a temporary issue that may be fixed by simply quitting and restarting the game 1. If the game is running, try exiting the Home screen. This is the way to do it:

Press the Xbox button on your controller to open the guide.
Highlight the game, press the Menu button on your controller, and select Exit.
Try restarting the game.

Sometimes performance issues can be related to the console cache. Try clearing the cache to temporarily reset settings and data stored on the console. To do this, press and hold the Xbox button on your controller until the power menu appears, then select "Turn off console." Unplug the power cable from the back of the console and wait at least 10 seconds before plugging it back in. Turn on the console and check if the problem persists.

Launched the game and was happy that I got passed the performance menu,

Unfortunately my pleasure was short lived , as the next time I was on the performance menu I was dashboarded again.

Any other suggestions?

Pretty lame, in my opinion. It's the only game that does this, and I use my Xbox a lot, so I know it's performing as designed.

It's not just Starfield, it's the same in F1 2022 too. While I was racing, game was crashing and going back to the main screen of Xbox series X but this was solved by resetting of Xbox.
And for Starfield, I have done everything, also factory reset but nothing changed. It is the same. I don't even know what the game looks like because at the starting scene it crashes and goes to main menu of Xbox.

Three months ago I bought new Series X from my local store. After two months I’ve noticed that while i’m playing Forza Horizon 5 (doing liveries in garage) my Series X fan was spinning louder than usual. And when I get my hands on Dying Light 2 I started playing in quality mode. But after a while (it’s random - sometimes 5 minutes, sometimes after an hour) my Series X fan starts spinning like crazy for a few seconds (my console even restarted today). I don’t have such problems in resolution or performance mode only in quality mode. My question is - is my series x have problems with overheating? Should I send it back to Microsoft? Or it’s maybe bad optimization of DL2? Also I don’t have such problems while playing Witcher 3 at 4k resolution or even Metro Exodus. My console is in well ventilated place, on top of my desk.
