    I no longer have access to my Minecraft Java Edition Username?


    I last played Minecraft Java Edition some time around October 2022. I had to merge my Microsoft and Mojang accounts, but after I did, I played with no issues. Now I have just redownloaded Minecraft Java edition and it is asking me to enter a new username. I tried the one I have always used in Java edition and it says it is taken. Someone recommended a website to check if the username is in use, and the only account using it is my own. Is there any way I can keep my username?

    I am able to sign in just fine the issue is once I click "Play" it asks me to enter a new username even though this isn't a new account.

    I see. That's weird. Because if that's the same account you use before, it should not ask you to create a new one. Have you tried resetting your game or Launcher?

    If it's the same issue, I advise you to reach out directly to the Minecraft team for further assistance aside from assigning a new username. You can send them a ticket here https://help.minecraft.net/hc/en-us/requests/new

    Aren't you able to sign in with Minecraft Java using your Microsoft account? You should use your Microsoft account to sign in to that game since you already migrated your account.
