I need to clarify about some multiplayer features...

Hello everyone. I have a question reguarding multiplayer. You see, I would like to play with my brother (on two Xbox consoles) black ops II but I don’t know if this will work.

I would like to know if I can play with my brother on the same game without system link? We are both connected on the same connection, but I’m not sure if I can play a lan game with him. If we can, do we both need Xbox live? our house has two floors, and
both of them don’t have as much space.

Also, does DLC affect if we could connect or not? I have the season pass, but my brother doesn’t.

Article helps clarify some of XBone's policies. Personally I agree disc-based shouldn't need authentication, however I am excited about 10 "xbox family" members that can share game libraries. Obviously still need more information about that feature. As it
is time will tell, and hopefully Microsoft will too.

Xbox One isn't region locked.

However licensing agreements means if you buy games digitally for a product your location doesn't have the rights to may risk your account.

Physical copies shouldn't have an issue.

Can I ask what games it is?

To play online with your brother, you would both need access to an Xbox Live Gold membership and a license for the game you'd like to play - as Frizio I iB mentioned, you can share an account's game licenses and Gold membership to other users on a particular
Xbox One console by setting the console as the Home console for the account that owns the game/membership that you're trying to share.

I know we are both supposed to have the same game (which I do own 2 copies of black ops II).

I tried it yesterday via system link and I saw my brothers server, however it failed to join the session. This could probably be because I have the dlc...
