The problems with RDR2’s “HDR” implementation are well known, but DV fixes these in almost every way!

If you have it available to you, please don’t sleep on Dolby Vision because F**K ME is it gorgeous! seems I can finally enjoy this game in a “HDR” presentation

On my LG CX my settings are:

Peak brightness: 1500

Paper white: 240

DV game brightness: 47

This seems to work great for me, it doesn’t look washed out once you adjust from the over-saturated SDR; I’m still getting nice deep blacks with very decent brightness and punchy colors

Remember, DV hard clips higher than HDR10 on the XSX so my TVs peak nits went from 800 to 1250 apparently and RDR2’s sun and other bright sources have a 10% fall off in nits so my in game numbers stated above aren’t completely random so see what works best for you, if your tv is of a similar calibre I know you’ll be as amazed as I am

A good rule of thumb is to look at the sun when adjusting Peak Brightness and stopping just before it gets blown out and undefined, that was the above number for me

For paper white, start the lowest and work up until the screen looks clear, almost window like, with no artificial “vignette” so it’s not dimmed but not washed out either

It looked so good I had to start another play trough in the middle of another!

Hello, I tried all three of these, and still do not see Dolby Vision enabled. I see Ultra 4k, HDR10, Dolby Atmos in Disney+ shows that should have DV. It still shows that Dolby Vision is supported in the video options, but is not showing in the apps.

Any help is appreciated!

I hope to see Dolby Vision supported in Blu Ray app as well, but currently only HDR10 is uspported. Dobly vision is supported for streaming.

Without knowing the BluRays your trying to watch there isnt much we can do.

I do know that not all UHD BluRays support Dolby Vision, they all support HDR10 (as its a free to use license) but Dolby Vision costs the movie studios to use. it.

Perhaps look at the back of the UHD box and see if it mentions Dolby Vision, if not its probably only using HDR10.

Hi Paul. I did the 4k display test, and everything showed green except dolby vision. The passthrough eventually works, but my receiver drops the signal for a couple of minutes, for example if I go to the main menu from RDR2.

On your console display settings, is HDR and Dolby Vision enabled?

Most people that get flickers on the screen (both playing or only on the dashboard) with Dolby Vision on is because both HDR and Dolby Vision are enabled at the same time.

Just try to turn HDR off and see if it solves your problem. If it does, unfortunately we will not be able to do much about it. It's a bug reported by some people and the only option would be use HDR or Dolby Vision, not both at the same time
