This could be caused by several factors, ranging from cable issues to settings misconfigurations or even display problems. Here are some steps you can follow to try and fix this:

Check HDMI Cable

• Try a Different HDMI Cable: A damaged HDMI cable can cause color issues. Swap out the cable to see if the issue persists. It's best to use a high-quality HDMI cable to ensure proper video output.
  

• Check HDMI Ports: If you're using a particular port on your TV or monitor, try switching to another one, as the port could be malfunctioning.
  

Check TV/Monitor Settings

• Reset Display Settings on Your TV: Many TVs have an option to reset the picture settings to default. Doing this could help restore proper color settings.
  
• Test on another TV or monitor.
  

Adjust Xbox Display Settings

• Change Xbox Display Settings:
  

• Go to Settings > General > TV & display options.
  

• Set the Resolution to 1080p (or another compatible resolution) and check if the red-over-black issue resolves.
  

• Try adjusting the Color Depth and Color Space (set it to Standard RGB or YCC 4:2:2 if it’s different).
  

• Force the Xbox to Output to a Different Resolution: If you're unable to see the screen clearly because of the color distortion, try holding the Power button and Eject button simultaneously while the Xbox is powered off. This will force the console to boot into 640x480 resolution, which should help you navigate the settings.
  

• If that works, you can go back to the TV & display options and select a higher resolution, like 1080p or 4K, depending on your TV's capabilities.
  

Power cycle

• If you can’t navigate through settings due to the display problem, you can perform a soft reset of your console’s display settings.
  

• Power off the Xbox.
  

• Hold down the Power button and Eject button simultaneously until you hear a second power-up chime (about 10 seconds after the first one).
  

• This resets the display settings to the default and may resolve any color issues.
  

Perform a Hard Reset

• If nothing works, you can try performing a factory reset. Be aware that this will delete your settings and data (unless you back them up).
  

• Go to Settings > System > Console Info > Reset Console.
  

• Choose Reset and Keep My Games & Apps (if you want to keep your games) or Reset and Remove Everything (if you want a clean reset).
  

• After the reset, check if the display issue persists.

Yellow, red and white RCA connectors are not the same as component video. The yellow RCA is composite video, SD resolution. If you only connect the green (Y) cable of the component cables you get a black and white picture as that is the signal which it carries.

Maybe so, but when i 1st got my video switcher i only plugged the green jack and i got full color and hd for over 2 months...once i unplugged it to try the vga cable i ordered that was "defective" and later plugged the component back in the switcher, it
became black and white... I guess it was some kind of internal glitch with the switcher then.

Red black and silver! Some of my favorite colors. A person like me though loves all of them lol.

Colossus plain and simple for the color black and red are my favorite 2 colors

Thanks for coming to the forums. This is an issue with the TV resolution itself. You will need to use the manual or contact manufacturer as to why it is showing these colors. As 1080p is now a normal resolution for the console.
