I need help with my controller if i hit the menu button it says its y

Install "Xbox Accessories" app on your console or PC. Connect the controller and open the app. The app will let you modify button mappings. Confirm whether button mappings are correct there.

Thanks for coming to the forums with your question. Are you able to go into button mapping and hit restore to default? Go to settings>ease of access>then button mapping at bottom select restore default.

Thank you for keeping us updated.

Go ahead and do a
hard reset and power cycle. Hold down the power button on the console for about 10 seconds until it shuts down and then remove the power cable from the Xbox and the power outlet for about 2-3 minutes. Then re-connect and
turn on the Xbox.

Once the Xbox is re-booted, follow the steps listed by Brad and select Restore to default in the button mapping page.

If that doesn't work, try going into your apps and launch the Xbox Accessories app directly and then select Configure. Create a profile and then test the buttons. Select Restore to default from that menu.

If the issue persists I recommend trying a second controller or try connecting that same controller to another Xbox to the narrow the issue down.
