    Hi,

    it could depend on the game you play.

    My Xbox sries S only change to 4k if I start a game that supports 4k.

    PS: ... and you have to activate it in the settings.

    Xbox one x not updating to 4k

    To get the 4k and HDR features you will need a 4k compatible TV, it does however help with game performance.

    Issues with 4K HDR

    I can say that my Samsung 4K UHD needed to have 4k activated in the HDMI settings of the TV. Also not all HDMI ports on all 4K TV's are capable of 4K.
