    I need help recovering an old xbox account that seems to be stuck in limbo.


    This account was created in 2013 using the Games for Windows Live services, within
    Grand Theft Auto IV on PC, when I signed in using my credentials for an existing Xbox 360 account. Just to properly specify, rather than allowing me to access my 360 account, it took me through the process fo creating a whole new account, of which
    I assumed to be a GFWL account.

    As absurd as this may sound, I didn't even question it when it happened. My main issue is that I no longer have any means to access this account as GFWL
    is no longer operational and I have zero knowledge on how to recover such an account.

    Searching up the account via the Xbox account search tool, I can see that it does in fact still exist with the game achievements and avatar that prove to me that it is the one I created.

    I would like to regain control over this account, but I am unsure how to do so when using the email on modern-day Microsoft services signs me into my proper Xbox 360 account rather than the one created by GFWL. I also don't know how to see if I used a different
    email for this account, as I have checked all the email accounts I have used over the years, and none of them link to that account.

    I need Microsoft Support to either assist in account recovery or at least confirm whether the account has an identical email to that of my Xbox 360 account.

    Apologies if I didn't explain the situation very well, it truly is bizarre and unlike any other that I've had to deal with.

    Achievement not unlocked/ingame stats stopped working

    Well, seems the account in question was stuck in limbo, decided to magically update itself after 5 days. So this can be closed as question is no longer relevant.

    need help recovering an old account

    so I had a old xbox account that was attached to my moms work email and microsoft has stopped accepting work emails for account and when I try to sign into it it says the account doesn’t exist so I was wondering if microsoft has deleted the account or if there is a way to get it back
    How old are we talking? When was the last time you logged in?

    I ask because if you don't login to your xbox profile for 2 years or login to your associated Microsoft account for 5 years then they do delete it for inactivity.

    If the account was already deleted then its too late to try and recover it
