That is not true. You can remove (unenroll) the console from a preview and still remain in the Insiders with the preview options available to your account. If you remove your Insider account as well as remove the console from a preview, using the Insider hub, then yes you will have to start all over and wait for an invite again.

I have recently installed Insider hub on a new Xbox Series X and all of the preview rings I am allowed were available to me.

A repository of files for manual reset issues is a Factory reset, 2 options available.

Not sure how you hope to achieve success with a 2nd HDD attached to your console but Self repair can't be discussed on the Forum.

Instead of waiting for an OSU in August which can only be applied to a console NOT enrolled in a Insiders preview anyway, you should unenroll the console from any preview and Factory reset the console. You can unenroll from a PC. Manage account Insider preview program.

If you receive a System Error with an Exxx error code, this could indicate a hardware issue. A hardware issue is defined by the system’s inability to process critical functions and results in a failure. Because consoles enrolled in the Xbox Insider Program receive preview updates, any of the Offline System Update (OSU) files will not resolve this issue.

When running through the console’s troubleshooting steps above, if you are prompted to use an OSU file, skip this step and select Reset this Xbox on the console. From there, choose either option that best suits your needs (We recommend the Reset and keep my games & apps option).

If restoring the console to factory defaults does not resolve this issue for your Xbox Insider console, you will need to submit a request to have your console repaired. To submit a repair request, visit:

If yes, as I said previously you need to install first OSU 2 or 3 before OSU 1

So, try installing first OSU 2 and then OSU 1 (download the one available on the Step 5 using the offline update link shared previously

if the error appears again, install OSU 3 first and then OSU 1
