    I moved to a new house and can no longer get Open NAT


    I had my setup completely dialed at my last apartment. We moved to a new place with the same internet service (new ONT box) and I’ve tried everything from UPnP to DMZ to try to get an open NAT. Nothing has worked. Xbox support is unreachable. “Phone calls and chat are not available for this issue”.

    Got on the line with ISP support and they’re confident there isn’t anything wrong with the service or anything more that can be done on the router end, since not even the DMZ option worked.

    I’m getting pretty close to cancelling my Xbox live sub and selling the Xbox, maybe giving up on gaming. Would rather just get help from Xbox support though.

    NAT Type Being Strict

    do you have other xbox consoles in the house, if one of them are on first this can cause it. also which isp are you with and which router are you using, I had the strict nat problem all the time with bt, since moving to sky it has always been open.

    Linksys WRT54G2 - NAT Problem

    The tech actually came out to my house. They ended up removing the NAT process from their end so I am not getting double NAT'd. This fixed it. The NAT now shows as open.

    I would suggest opening your NAT. Secondly, do you own other consoles in the house that may be near the Xbox? If so, unplug them and move them away from the xbox and try reconnecting. Too much wireless interference disconnects people from Xbox Live. Yes,
    this still happens, in my house nonetheless.

    Is your NAT Type set to "Open?"

    You're NAT determines to whom you can connect with, if it is anything but "Open" matches could take significantly longer periods of time to join.
