I migrated my Minecraft account before the deadline and now it's lost.

Hello all and thanks for any help provided.

I migrated my Minecraft account, that I've had since 2010, to a Microsoft account and when i went to install it on my new PC I get an error code at the installer.

0x803F8001

I have the Transaction ID# from when I bought the game, and the email confirmation.

I've reached out through this forum before and was eventually told to reach out to the game developer Minecraft support, and the ticket was closed.

I reached out to Minecraft support and was told they no longer do Minecraft support.

I reached again to Microsoft and was given this as a response:

If you are getting the error code 0x803F8001, it is an indication of a lack of ownership on a particular title in reference to the Microsoft account that is signed in, either on the Microsoft Store, the Xbox App, or the Minecraft Launcher itself.

Again, I purchased the game 13 years ago. I didn't realize I'd be forced to purchase it again just because Microsoft decided to have me migrate my account

I try to reach out to some kind of technical support but I keep getting directed to forums and chat bots, that tell me to try uninstalling and reinstalling the launcher, believe me after 20+ times I doubt the 21st time is the charm.

I'm losing faith that this will be resolved and out of bitterness I'll probably just settle with never playing Minecraft again. This experience has soured me to the whole thing, can you tell?

Can anyone please give me an answer either way, is my account lost?

Hi. Unfortunately it seems your account may be lost forever. You have exhausted all the possible support you could get and still, your account is not recovered. You will have to purchase another copy to continue playing Minecraft. I am sorry as I know this is very frustrating.

Essentially, microsoft lost my account and I'm responsible for it? That's simply unfair.

Unfortunately, the deadline for migrating your Minecraft account to a Microsoft account with entitlement to Minecraft: Java Edition and Minecraft: Bedrock Edition has passed. The migration process was open until May 10, 2023, and accounts that were not migrated by then are no longer eligible for the free Java Edition entitlement.

If you purchased Minecraft before the migration deadline, you will still be able to play Minecraft: Bedrock Edition. However, you will no longer be able to claim a free copy of Minecraft: Java Edition.

If you are still interested in playing Minecraft: Java Edition, you will need to purchase it separately from the Microsoft Store.
