Why does it take 8 plus hours to download a game on xbox one S this is insane

Really depends on your internet. Im not sure if this is your first 8th gen console or not but if it is games are generally much larger than what they were on Xbox 360 so will therefore take longer to download especially if youve got slower internet.

well after trying to start this at just after 12.

on a 152Mb connection over 6 hours later it has finally downloaded the 58Gb data that i had preloaded including the updates it had done prior to the release.

at times the bandwidth dropped down to around 100KB/s so i know im not the only one that had this issue as that shows the xbox live network not coping with all the other people having to do the same.

what is the point of pre loading when this happens and its not the first time even has call of duty advanced warfare did the same at least it didn't take the 18 plus hours that that took to re-download.

Same exact thing here. Takes around 1-2 hours for a game to download, then between 5-12 hours for a game to install. I downloaded wwe 2k16 the other day, and it took over 10 hours for that game to install. I have the new Xbox One S... I thought install times
were supposed to be improved?

I guess it just depends on your internet speed since it has to download the game and updates plus install too ive got slow speeds so it took hours the first time i did it not sure if its been improved

When I first got my Xbox One, it took about 24 hours to download Ryse, which is ~40 GB in size. I think my download speed was somewhere around 20 MB/s.
