I just got elite controller and it doesn't seem to work properly

I recently got a brand new elite controller for xbox and it won't reguster bytton inputs correctly. Is this common?

Hi, Janene! I'm sorry to hear you're having issues with your Elite controller. No worries, I'm happy to assist you with this today.

For a brand new controller, regardless of the model or type of the controller, you shouldn't get any issues like that. Sometimes a simple update can help.

Profile & system > Settings > Devices & connections > Controllers & headsets, and then select the controller you want to update.

On the Xbox Wireless Controller screen, select “…” to check the firmware version for your controller.

If it says “Update,” select Firmware version, and then follow the steps provided.

A lot of Xbox One controllers seem to be deficient in some way or the other. My last controller's home and select buttons weren't working properly, and the left thumbstick seemed to make a clicking noise without me pressing the thumbstick's button. It just
clicked whenever I moved it.

I just got a replacement controller and its D-pad isn't working properly either. I can't seem to get a perfectly fine XbOne controller...

That adapter will WORK with the Elite controller.

When I got my Oculus Rift, the set included the older model of the Xbox Wireless USB Adapter with a Xbox controller, and my Elite Controller works on my Windows 10 PC with that adapter.

The newer version is simply a bit smaller.

So you do NOT need a special "Elite" wireless adapter (which doesn't exist).

I got mine as a Christmas gift. Recently I noticed that the primary "A" button on the face plate is not responding to every button push....I compared it to my original Elite controller and another regular controller and the "A" is Definitely not working
properly. I will be returning it this week.

I think I'll keep the controller since it works fine on my Xbox. It's just a shame that it doesn't work properly when you connect it wired to a android device
