All Ones are in the same family of console so there isn't a specific Xbox One or One S controller. There was the original One controller that had shiny plastic around the Xbox button on the top that did not have bluetooth. Then they released one that had a matte finish instead of the shiny plastic that does have bluetooth. Both versions will work on all One consoles as well as a Series S/X.

The Xbox Wireless Controller that comes with Xbox Series X|S includes a feature that allows for quickly switching between a paired Bluetooth device and an Xbox console. If the controller is connected to a Bluetooth device, double-press the Pair button, and the controller will immediately switch its connection to the last Xbox console it was paired to. Then, to switch back to the paired Bluetooth device, press and hold the Pair button to start pairing mode. The controller will automatically connect to the Bluetooth device you were just using while it also searches for new devices – just in case you want to connect a different Bluetooth device or Xbox. If it doesn’t find a new device nearby in pairing mode, it will remain connected to the previous Bluetooth device.

As of the moment, the said feature is not yet available on Xbox Elite Series 2. But what I always do is make sure that when you turn on your devices such as PC or Laptop, the Bluetooth is turned off then turn the controller on first before turning on the Bluetooth for it to automatically reconnect.

Distance wise in my usual spot maybe 8-9 feet and there is no obstructions in the way of the xbox, I also did try usb connection with both and they experienced the same issue at the same exact time. It be weird to assume both controllers are bad when one
is just barely a year old and the other is the original i got when i got the xbox one. As for bluetooth there are no devices that are connected in that way near the xbox or connected to the xbox via bluetooth nor any accessories.

Okay so when i first got my Bluetooth card and connected my xbox controllers everything worked great. It worked exactly how they work when plugged into the PC with a wired connection. When you move the sticks on desktop you can actually navigate the menus. Well my GPU died and i havent used my computer for awhile but i just got a new graphics card today and connected my controller via bluetooth and noticed i couldnt navigate the menu. Ive tried every trouble shooting there is to try. I uninstalled and reinstalled all my drivers, bluetooth, controller, ect. I turned bluetooth on and off. I started pressing buttons like crazy trying to t get a response and i actualyl managed to get Steam Big Picture Mode to start up and inside of the application im able to use the controller perfectly fine. No trouble whats so ever. But if i start a game up then the game doesnt recognize the controller and it doesnt work. But if i plug my controller in with a USB then boom, perfect. No problems. Its kind of hard to search for this issue online as i get mixed results and none have the exact problem im having. It was working fine before idk why its not anymore.

I just got my series 2 controller today. It wont connect by bluetooth. It can be seen but keeps giving the message. "Couldn't Connect. Try connecting again". WIndows 10 fully patched. Connected controller with USB and updated firmware. Did the bluetooth
trouble shooter. twice and still no luck. Also my PC is about 3 months old with a high end motherboard.
