There should be a code in the box the console came in. If not, you would need to contact the retailer you purchased it from for assistance.

Since your gamertag shows as Free here on the forums, I think the problem is that you aren't Gold at all. The 30 day Gold trial offered to new gamertags created on a console is a true Gold membership and shows as such on the forums; since your gamertag
shows as Free, you didn't get the Gold trial. (In contrast, the 48 hour Trial codes included in some games offer certain online multiplayer features but do
not show the gamertag as Gold.)

Since you've got played games going back years, I think you've misunderstood the 30 day Gold trial. It is only offered to new gamertags created on a console (up to three new GTs). If you download your old gamertag to the new console, you do not get another
Gold trial.

Each new xbox comes with 3 x 1 month free trials of the gold service. The only way to access this is to create a brand new account on the console. When the option to join live shows up you would choose NO. Then the free trial offer would appear.

Every new console will give the first three profiles created on it a chance to get the 1-month free trial of gold. If you do not sign up and accept the free trial when it appears, it will not show up again for that profile. Your only options are to pay for
gold, or start another new profile and get the gold trial with that account. Sorry.

No, you're on a free/silver account. You would either need to purchase a gold membership in a store or through xbox. Or you should be able to get a free month trial. All new consoles have a free one month trial available for up to 3 gamertags, but you have
to create a brand new account. During the account creation process it'll ask if you want to join live, press yes and it shows you all the options for paying for gold. Choose upgrade later and it should give you the free trial if it's available.
