I would just like to add it may be worth checking if there are any restrictions in place to using the card for online purchases. It may either have to be registered/activated to use online, only be used for certain services/websites, or may not allow online purchases at all. This is because visa gift cards are a popular target for fraudsters.

If it doesn't allow online purchases, or use with Xbox services, you may need buy an Xbox or Microsoft currency code with your card and then redeem this code to your console to use the funds to buy online content.

The card may not be compatible with the payment method. Have you tried checking it with another card that you are sure works?

if you have correctly activated the cards and put in your personal information, you need to call the issuer of the cards to find out why the transaction isn't going through, or open a case with Microsoft support

Not all VISA/Master Card gift cards work. Usually it's a safe bet that they will work if you are able to register your own billing details on the prepaid cards website. A lot of different banks (Bank of America, Chase, Citibank, etc) offer gift cards that allow
online shopping purchases. I've only personally tried GreenDot Visa (For Shopping), Chase Visa Gift Card, and a Bank of America Visa Gift Card and those all seem to work as long as I registered the card for online use.

If you want to be safe, I honestly suggest purchase Microsoft Point cards or Prepaid Gold Subscription cards with the money instead of just purchasing the gift card itself.
