I have to remove the timer and it is asking the security question.

There is no way to get the security question answer unless you can sign into the account in which you can find it in the security page here: [account.live.com/proofs/manage/additional] where you can delete them in the Security info page.

Microsoft takes account security very seriously, that's why Account Recovery is an automated process with no human influence. If you don't have the correct information, you may not be able to get through account verification using the Recovery Form.

The Account Recovery Form requires adequate information to prove that you are the owner of the account. The Account Recovery Process can be a time consuming process, but providing as much info as possible from the start of the process will increase the possibility of being verified by the automated process. You'll need to keep trying until you're verified by Microsoft.

Remember to use a familiar device from which you've frequently accessed your Microsoft account, as well as a familiar location. Microsoft will review your responses and respond within 24 hours. In this case, you would have to be able to log into the parent account with the security information or the account recovery form. If you are blocked by two-step verification then you would have to go through the 'I do not have this option' prompts that appear when you attempt to sign until you can change your security information and wait 30 days.

Well, no one who asks for your security information will have access to give you your password.

Someone verbally asking will only be able to provide you your email address.

The system will ask for your security question to reset your password, but you have to already have the email address. Also, it won't actually give you the password; instead, it'll have you create a new one. Hope this helps.
