I have set up a microsoft family account to monitor my son's usage, but his friends xbox seems to be listed as the 'home console' on my account. does anyone know how this could have happened and how to correct the problem?

Childs accounts are visible at the microsoft family, but not at xbox family

I am having the same issue trying to set my child'support profile to play minecraft with friends and we do not have a game console. they are in the family page on Microsoft family but I am not seeing the profile in Xbox settings to update the profile to
    allow playing minecraft with friends.

Please advise how to correct this issue.

    Thanks

His friend's console would only be set as the Home if your son set it that way or gave his friend his account information (which he should not have). To correct it, you would just need to change the Home console setting My Home Xbox Setting on Xbox One | Share Your Xbox One

If your son did give his account information to his friend, you would want to reset his password. It's a violation of the code of conduct to share accounts.

    Fortnite parental control/xbox

    Hi Jessica,

Are you controlling your sons account through the family safety features of your Microsoft account or just through the options on the Xbox itself? I ask because I control friend requests through the family safety app on my phone and wasnt asked to set up a pin for my son.

Transferring Xbox account onto a new Microsoft account.

    I have similar issue.
When my son got an Xbox I set him up under my account; he was very young and I didn't want him to have his own account. Seemed best practice to set him up under my account.

He will be 18 this year, he now has a Microsoft account, and wants to have his Xbox account under his own Microsoft account.

It's absolutely ridiculous that Microsoft don't allow transfer between family members to account for kids growing up and wanting to take control of their own digital assets.

Y do I separate my account from my son and his xbox

    Hello Dear User

    Welcome to the Microsoft Community.

I understand that you are having trouble on separate your account from your son's and his Xbox, and I understand your confusion.

To separate your Microsoft account from your son's Xbox account, you’ll need to adjust a few settings related to family accounts, permissions, and device management. Here’s how you can do it:

Remove Your Account from Your Son's Xbox

If your account is currently signed in on your son’s Xbox, you can remove it from the device. Here’s how:

    1. On the Xbox console:

Press the Xbox button on your controller to open the guide.
    1. Navigate to Profile & System > Settings > Account.
    1. Select Sign-In, Security & Passkey.
    1. Under Account Security, choose Remove accounts.
    1. Find your account in the list, select it, and press Remove.
This will log you out of the Xbox and remove your account from the device.

    Set Up a Family Group

If your son is still using your account for family-related features, you’ll need to create a separate Microsoft Family group. This allows you to manage permissions, subscriptions, and purchases in a more controlled way.

    1. Go to the Microsoft Family website:

On your computer or mobile device, visit Microsoft Family Safety.
    1. Create a Family Group:

If you don’t have a family group, select Add a family member.

Add your son’s account by typing in their email address.
    1. You can choose whether to make him an Adult or a Child in the group. If you want to manage his purchases, settings, and subscriptions, set him as a Child.
    2. Manage Permissions:

Once your son is added, you can manage his access to purchases, content, and even set screen time limits.

If your son is set up as a child, you can approve or deny purchases, set spending limits, and control which apps and games they can access.
    Remove Your Payment Information

If your payment information (credit card or PayPal account) is shared between you and your son’s Xbox account, you might want to remove or update it:

    1. Sign in to your Microsoft account at Microsoft account | Home.
    1. Go to Payment & Billing > Payment options.
    1. From there, you can either remove your payment methods or update them to separate your payments from your son’s Xbox account.
    Check Game Sharing (If Used)

If you’ve been using Xbox’s Home Xbox feature to share games, you’ll need to adjust this if you no longer want to share your games with your son’s account:

    1. On your Xbox console, go to Settings > Personalization > My Home Xbox.
    1. If your son has set your Xbox as his Home Xbox, you can remove this feature so that games aren’t shared between accounts.

Please try the above and let me know the results so that I can assist you further.

    Best Regards.

    Changing organizers email

    Hello Arreal,

    Greetings!

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.

It seems that you are having issue with Xbox Family Settings app in setting a screen time limit due to an issue with organizer account. Let us check and see on what we can do to help resolve your concern in a timely manner.

Since your son is using your Microsoft account as his log in it can be set as organizer since that is an adult account. To be able to set up the Xbox Family Settings app correctly, you must create an account for your son and create an Xbox Family Setting app using your own account and set as the organizer or to change the email associated with your son's Xbox account, you will need to follow these steps:

    • Sign in to your Microsoft account on the Xbox website.
    • Go to the "Family" tab and select your son's account.
    • Click on "Manage family settings online."
    • Under "Organizer," click on "Change organizer."
    • Follow the prompts to select your son's account as the new organizer and enter his email address.
    • Once the change is complete, you should be able to set screen time limits for your son's account using his email address.

For your reference, see: Manage a member’s content in the Xbox Family Settings app | Xbox Support

We look forward to your response. Kindly let us know, if there is any misunderstanding or clarifications of our description by sending us a reply.

    good evening

In order for your son to send friend requests on Xbox, you need to set up family settings and assign him as a child account. Here's how you can do that:

Go to the Xbox website and sign in with your adult account.

Click on the "Settings" button and select "Family" from the menu.

Click on the "Add a Family Member" button and enter your son's email address to invite him to the family group.

Once your son accepts the invitation, you will be prompted to set up his account as a child account.

You can set up specific restrictions and controls for your son's account, such as the games and apps he can access, and the times he can use the Xbox.

You can also manage your child's account and settings on Xbox console, go to settings, then select Accounts, then Family, and then select the child account you want to manage.

Please note that, as the adult, you will need to approve friend requests before your son can add them. If your son is still having trouble, you may want to check the settings you have applied to his account to make sure they are correct.
