A modem is a physical piece of hardware, so you would need to consult your instruction manual and call your Internet provider

If it's a modem and a router , try putting it in "bridge mode " and plug the Xbox straight into it , if you have a separate modem , take the router out and plug the Xbox straight into the modem and see if you still have the problem...

Just want to make sure before I answer you, you're only doing one Xbox connected up, yes? And quite honestly, your money is best spent on a separate router instead of getting a gateway (wireless modem). Gateways are half modem, half router, and do the work
of both about half as well. Convenient for space and basic computer things, not so much for gaming computer and consoles.

Typically, modems don't do WiFi, routers do WiFi.
