I have gold; son on same xbox one, dl cod to his account; can I still play online/live?

If your console is set as your Home console, he will be able to share your gold subscription so you both can play online.

a Xbox Live Gold subscription is connected to an Xbox Live Account, so if your account has a Gold subscription it will have that Gold subscription on any console (that is connected to Xbox Live)

Since your son wants to play online on his 360 at some time too, his account will require Gold.

For your account it depends on the situation, if you want to play online on any of the Xbox One consoles your account will need to have a Gold subscription too, but if you only want to play online on one of the consoles, your sons account is able to set
that console as Home console, which will share his Gold subscription on that console and allow all profiles on that console to use the Gold benefits. This will be the same for any digital content connected(bought with) to your sons profile.

Be aware that a Home console can only be set 3x per year though.

For troubleless gaming in your situation it might be best to each have it's own Gold subscription

My sons profile says the same thing. He is able ot play offline, but gets that same message when he tries to play online. I was able to sign in on my account and find the parental controls and I set everything to allow all and it still doesn't work. Thought
maybe his xbox live wasn't working, but it says he is an xbox live gold member... Still can't get it to play online on his profile... Sooooo frustrated right now!

Hello Mick. Yes this is possible through the Home Xbox feature in settings. To do this, add your account to your son's Xbox. While signed into your account open the settings menu and go to General>Personalization>My Home Xbox, and select set this
as my home Xbox. You can now sign out of your account. This will allow your son to play your games and use your gold subscription without having to sign into your account on that Xbox.

i left one tidbit out. My son wishes to use my gamertag with the Gold subscription here on out.

So after that, my son can just carry on with my gamertag and I can create a new one for my living room xbox? Then we can both play differering Gold games online at the same time?

In this case would i still be setting his xbox as the home xbox? Currently my living room xbox is the home xbox that I always played on with my gamertag.

I hope this isnt getting too confusing. I know I’m confused for sure.

Since you are sharing Home with gold in your xbox one your son can still play the game purchased under your account if his account is present in the same console.
