With regards to your concern, it seems what you are trying to do is a split payment purchase. For that, you cannot use 2 card to do a split payment. What I can suggest is to try and buy a Microsoft or Xbox gift card or credit and redeem it to your account.

Now after you redeem it to your account, use the Microsoft credit to buy the game you wanted to get. Then use your other card for the rest of the balance to purchase the game.

It's because you're trying to use the Prepaid Microsoft cards. Many of us cannot use the $ redeemed from using those cards. Call xbox support and if you don't have a credit card and really want to buy FIFA Points, go buy a Visa gift card (preferably a reloadable
one) until they fix it. I got one for Xmas and was able to buy stuff with it.

Those types of cards don't work. Take it to a Gamestop or similar place and buy 50 bucks MS credit.

You cannot use Visa gift cards directly on your account unfortunately.

As long as the card he buys is a prepaid debit card and not a visa gift card he should have no issue. As prepaid debit card's require him to validate his identity, whereas a visa gift card requires no identity verification.
