I have a problem with my headset.

Hi.

I have a problem with my headphones.

I am using a non xbox headset.

It does not say anything about xbox on the package.

I am using it for my 1708 model xbox controller.

The volumeis all the way up and all i can hear is a few pops here and then.

Could someone please help?

Stereo Headset mic does not work

Hello,

The microphone does not work, only the

Try performing a hard reset EXACTLY like this.

Hold the power button on the console for 8 seconds or until the power shuts down completely. Unplug the power cord from the back of the console for 5 minutes. Plug the power cord back in and restart the console.

If that doesn't help you may need to try an Xbox branded headset.

Okay, I did all the basic tests and read the forum about hearing other players. It appears I might be in need of a different controller or need it fixed. I synced the controller, it didn't work; it still showed I had a headset in when I didn't. I tried using
a different controller and it didn't show it but I tried turning off my controller with my other controller and it didn't work, I mean sometimes it does work. Also, as to my headset, it is only sometimes where I hear them through the headset and yes the volume
is up. I don't know what I need to do next. What do you suggest?

Thanks for the response Thomas! One thing I wanted to clarify is that you can't seem to get the console/controller shut down menu to open. To confirm, are you trying to access this menu by pressing and holding the Guide Button until the menu comes up, correct?
Does anything happen instead?

Did you look through the communication guide I linked in my last post? Did you try any of those suggestions for restoring communication with your friends? If so, what steps did you take and what happened? Let me know, thanks!

Hey there Thomas! So it sounds like you have a few problems here, but before we get into them specifically, I'd like to do a couple of basic tests. First, can you try to sync your controller again to see if this helps. Also, try using a basic wired headset,
like the one that came with your console, to see if you have the same issues. Finally, does this same behavior happen if you use a different controller?

For hearing other players, start with our Communication Guide (forums.xbox.com/.../19135.aspx) to see if that helps out. Post back with the results of the tests
above and we'll go from there. Thanks!
