promo codes for games not working with 16 digits or less?

tried to enter fight night champion code and there game doesn't have the proper promo code enter so i went to microsoft enter promo code and it was telling me its not a proper code. because its a 16 digit code not a-25 digit code like your asking for

........... so then i went to your site where it said enter promo code and to my surprise it is also saying a 25 digit code and is putting dashes where they don't belong. so are only new games promos working now and the old ones are garbage?

That's odd. When you make a purchase on microsoftstore.com there should be an option to add a promo code and that's where you would enter the 9 digit code.

25 digit codes are Xbox codes and would be redeemed to your account before you make a purchase.

It's a 9 digit code. When I go the Microsoft store site and try to purchase it, it brings up the store app from windows 10. There is no place to enter the 9 digit code. only the 25 digit ones
