So far, from the details you provided, you can try the following steps and let us know the result. You can just skip those you have done already.

Take back ownership of a drive:

Open File Explorer

Right click on the Drive you want to take ownership

Click Properties

Security then Advanced tab

Then change the owner

Games have been required to be downloaded and installed to the hard drive since 2013 by game consoles, and by PCs since the early 90s

Been installing every game I play for over 5 years on my good old 60GB hard drive. Had no problems with my hard drive.

I am having the same issue. As of today, my xbox has been unable to detect my external hard drive. I was able to use the external hard drive last night by playing multiple games installed on it without any issue. The system doesn't
even list the device as an option to transfer games, or view any content on the device as well as not detecting any games installed.

I have had the device plugged into the system the entire time I have owned it, well over 1 year. I have unplugged the device and plugged into a different usb port, hard reset the xbox multiple times, and factory reset the system. I plugged the device into my
PC and on the PC it says the device is working properly.

I contacted support about this issue, and the only thing I was suggested was the factory reset to the system since I was on the most current update.

Looking at the most recent update on the xbox, it was last night at 11:49 PM after I had gotten off the system for the night.

Any other ideas that could help detect the device?
