I got suspended for a day due to reporting griefers.

I've reported people in the past that have said and done worse and yet nothing was done in most of the situations. I've found users who are making money off of cheating and helping others cheat in games, yet nothing was done. Yet in this situation, defending myself after time and time and again of harassment that has gone unpunished, I'm held accountable.

I still can't help but feel like this is unjustified. How do you expect anyone to even have faith in this reporting system when 9/10 it's just going to be ignored?

You would need to go to http://enforcement.xbox.com for information about your suspension. The enforcement team would not have issued a suspension for you reporting someone else or for the icon.

Sorry to hear you had to go through this.

You cannot get reported for reporting someone, the one day ban you received will have to do with the message you sent to the other user as a reaction against his acts.

I can understand that you were trying to defend yourself, but you should have only reported the user,

That way you wouldn't have gotten a one day ban as the enforcement team would have taken action against him only.

As long as you're reporting people, the enforcement team are investigating and taking the appropriate action. Occasionally, they will send a thank you message, but most of the time they don't. So there is no way for you to know 100% if/when someone has or has not had an enforcement action. It's also not always immediate, so while it sometimes seems like nothing is being done, those people will still receive an enforcement action.

a mocking reply would probably be reported (almost definitely if the other person is a troll/griefer) which could result in you getting suspended/banned.

if you receive toxic messages just report>block and move on, never reply
