You can't actually get him to carry your stuff, you just get him to bring less of his stuff so there is more 'room' for your stuff, which results in you being able to bring 100 lbs of stuff instead of 75.



I heard you can also bring 100 with the Strong Back perk so if you have taking convincing him to carry your stuff may do nothing.
