I got an unnecessary suffix at the end of my name when it said my name was available.

It is taken its is that simple

You should read the guide correcrtly

Just because you cant find the exact millionth version of the name doesnt mean its not taken

You gotta understand how the system works

WHEN you search for a name you MUST use the EXACT context and spelling

So if you look for tommysoda right now it will say there is NOONE with that name

But here you are this is due to privacy reasons

If you know the person you would know the exact spelling

So in short TommySoda tommy soda tommysoda are all the same to the system as your current name Tommy Soda

What you didnt understand is if the name is taken or not you will never be told if its taken or not you are talking about the faq which is still guided by the gamertag rules

You would be issued a suffix if it is even if you

Cant find the exact spelling

No amount of changing will change the result unless you wanna spend a thousand years with a random combination generator to figure out out of millions of different combinations which is actually taken

And no support cant find which spelling you will just have to keep guessing which wiuldnt do you any good since the name is taken you eill have to add another spelling like a different character or number hence the suffix

The suffix system is in place until all games support it ib late 2020 after which you will get #number combination

I stopped short just in case i can figure it out on my real account. But it showed the preview of your name like it always does like it will show up as username#1234 here and username1234 here. But with the new account it said my name would not have the
suffix in my preview, showing that it is available.

Did you actually go all the way through the creation process on the new account or did you stop short because it told you the name was available?

Im fully aware of how it works. But why if i create a new account i can choose the name i wanted with no suffix (i of course didn't change the other one in hopes of fixing this one), but if i change it on the account i want to it gets the suffix. That
tells me its not taken and i have the suffix for no reason.

I did exactly what i said would solve the problem and now the numbers are gone and my problem is solved. I spent $20 to fix it.

I have read all the information about the gamertag system. I understand all of it and i understood the issue. The reason why i got the suffix is because someone had my name. And that person was ME. My guess is it's some kind of bug that gave me a suffix
thinking that the name already existed. Which it did, it was mine. And now the suffix is gone because i changed off of that gamertag to make it available again. Then i changed it back to and it was available again and now my suffix is gone.

I told you i knew exactly what was wrong and how it can be fixed and I'm not happy that i feel like i was ignored on this issue. I had to figure it out myself and had to spend an extra $20 to fix it.
