I got a message on smart glass about my beta for IW.. but the message is not on my console!

I don't get all this praise about smart glass. I've tried the smart glass on my phone and unless I'm missing something, all it does is connect to your X1 so that you can 'take over' the X1 UI. I'm talking specifically about messaging when I say this.

Is there a way to be in a game and receive a message, open it, read it and respond to it via smart glass without having to pull up the messaging app on your X1? Can you message people using smart glass 'in the background' without ever interrupting what is
happening on your console?

My experience with smart glass is as follows: Receive message in game. Hold X (or say "Xbox Read Message"). After reading message (and deciding to reply) click reply. Put down controller and grab phone, pull up smart glass and do w/e navigating you need
to in order to get your phone screen to match your Xbox screen and then use the phone's pop up KB to type your reply.

Even with my wireless KB, it's easier than that... get message, pull it up, click reply and grab KB to type. As I said, the only reason I tried smart glass to begin with is to make messaging easier which, compared to the UI, it is.

So, unless I am missing a setting somewhere or a way to use smart glass completely in the background, without interrupting what my Xbox is doing or what's on the screen... I see nothing smart about smart glass. It's nothing more than a 'second controller'
that I have to fumble around with and put down my primary X1 controller to use. My wireless KB is quicker, larger (since I'm older that helps) and easier (since I know how to type) to use and if I'm going to have to fumble around putting down one controller
to grab another just to send a message, I'll use the KB.

Hey, I've got a great idea! Why don't they give us the option to send voice messages?

I never got to open the message on my xbox I accidentally deleted it on my smart glass app so when I changed regions and looked for it I could not find it.

If you've got a smart phone, download the Xbox One smart glass app and use it to message people. So much quicker and easier in my opinion especially during the load times.

I find it quite handy

It's sad that it's easier to message on Xbox Live using Smartglass, than it is using the console itself.

Unless you know of a way to replicate a messaging system that people use day in and day out on a console and control pad you will never message easier. The control pad is just too restrictive in that respect. The only thing faster than a phone keypad, is
a USB keyboard.

It's like using the internet with a control pad versus using a mouse and keyboard. It's just naturally faster to do it the way you have been used to doing it for so many years.

You can send messages via Smartglass without interfering with anything or even having the system turned on.

I deleted only the xbox live empty message using my smart glass app and that worked for me. I didn't have to delete any of my friend's messages!
