I gifted a game and it’s saying it’s redeemed but not displaying as him owning it.

I got it for him as a gift, it says redeemed. Would that create an issue?

Unfortunately once a code has been redeemed, it can't be transferred to a new account.

If you know what game your nephew may have wanted to purchase (or if he says, I want X), you could purchase the game as a gift (using the currency on your account, and sending him the gift code to be redeemed on his account.

It depends what you mean.

If you mean, can you redeem MS Rewards points from your account for a gift card, then give that to your son, the answer is yes, as you're emailed a code that you can then give to him so he can redeem it on his own account.

If you've already redeemed the MS Rewards points on your own account and you're talking about gifting account balance to your son, then what Smwutches said applies unfortunately.

Don't think it is shady at all. When you buy a gift you get a redeem code for the game that you can give to anyone. The austen doesn't know who you are giving it to already owns it or doesn't want it.

Also, if you made the purchase only you can request a refund.

That is not how gift games are purchased.

You enter the email of the recipient and it is sent to them. At this point, MS clearly knows whether or not they own the game. At the very least a warning message should be displayed!

Yeah, that would help. At first, I was like lol, this anne_tttt is cra cra, how is MS going to know who owns what, but after having a think about it, it's totally possible and a warning saying someone already owns that would be great.
