I feel like I'm not in control of my games I've purchased digitally.

I was chatting with a Microsoft employee and I am pretty sure I was interrogated. I don't speak out much however I feel like I am not in control of my digitally purchased games. I was chatting with this person who is supposed to assist me and I felt like
I was under investigation. This person has successfully put me in a state of not knowing if I am valued as a customer. I have been with Xbox since the start and I have amassed a very fair amount of digital games. I feel robbed.

Hi I purchased just cause 3 digitally on the 17 of November it's now the 16th and I've still not received my just cause 2 bundled code yet I've check my emails and my messages on Xbox live Xbox support directed me to the forums I feel like know body wants
to know about this! Can anyone help please!

Recieve 10$ code after purchasing digital game

I've seen a promo that read, receive 10$ code after purchasing any digital game. There was a list to choose from, call of duty ghost, was one of the games. I purchased it digitally. I've still not received my code.

Not sure why exactly you feel that way but I get all my games digitally and I don't feel that way.

 

The basic fact is that you aren't in control of the games, and you actually don't own them.

Extreme example - say Microsoft goes out of business tomorrow. Depending on the circumstances, you could lose access to every single game you've purchased digitally that isn't already downloaded to the console. And even worse, because of the DRM behind
the console, after a period of time you'd lose access to the games you have downloaded already. Of course, that's an extreme example.

There have been cases where people have purchased digital movies through iTunes only to have them removed from their library due to licensing issues between Apple and the movie company.

 

What exactly was said that made you feel that way?

Well, you are correct. Technically, you are not in control of the games you own digitally. That's one of the downfalls to going digital.

 

You don't own digital titles, you purchase a license for the game which entitles you to access to it until they ultimately shut the server down. This is pretty much the wave of the future, personally I don't mind it.

What happened where you don't feel like a Valued Customer? Every time I've spoken with MS they've always been very helpful.

 

It's a new method of purchase...you have nothing in your hand but at the same time you have it...it's strange but it's the future and "robbed" is not the right term imo....

 

Hence the reason i buy disc games.

Once i don't play them anymore i can simply sell them on and recoup some of my money, Digital games are much easier in terms of buying but you never own that game you just own the license to it which is something i will never be comfortable with accepting,
Maybe if the price of the digital game was cheaper than the disc version it would be okay (no packaging, shipping printing or disc so should be cheaper at launch)

 

What happened to your games?

 

There are many of us that feel the same. I have over a hundred digital games and I know at any moment some person can just not like me and report me and I lose access to all my paid for content. I think the rules need to be changed on this so that we don't
lose our games, just access to online game features. This is why I have been buying more games on disc and I play single player games mostly.
