I factory reset my console and...

    Hi SaraS0ul

    Greetings!

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community

I do understand the urgency of you wanting to find other ways for this issue of yours in regards with your missing games after resetting your console. We are very glad to help you out to find some of the best possible options and troubleshooting's that we can provide for you.

First thing, I would recommend checking if your external hard drive is properly connected to your console. You can do this by unplugging the hard drive and plugging it back in. If the issue persists, you can try connecting the hard drive to a different USB port on your console.

If the any case issue does still persist, you can try the following troubleshooting steps:

    1. Check if the games are still installed on your external hard drive by going to "My games & apps" on your console. If the games are still installed, try launching them from there.

    2. Check storage settings: Verify that your console recognizes the external hard drive as the default storage location for games and apps. Go to Settings > System > Storage > Manage Storage. Confirm that the external hard drive is selected as the default installation location.

    3. If the games are not showing up in "My games & apps", you can try resetting your console's cache. To do this, hold down the power button on your console for 10 seconds until it turns off. Then unplug the power cable from the back of the console and wait for 10 seconds before plugging it back in and turning on your console.

    4. Reinstall missing games: you may need to reinstall the missing games. To do this, go to My games and apps, select Full library, and navigate the missing games. Choose each game and select Install to reinstall them onto your external hard drive.

    5. If the above steps do not work, you can try formatting your external hard drive. Please note that formatting your hard drive will erase all data on it, so make sure to back up any important data before proceeding. To format your hard drive, go to "Settings" on your console, then select "System", "Storage", and then select your external hard drive. From there, select "Format for games & apps".

If none of the above step's work, please let me know and we can explore other options. Additionally, here is an article that may be helpful in troubleshooting external hard drive issues on Xbox consoles: https://support.xbox.com/en-US/help/hardware-network/storage/manage-storage-on-xbox-one

Thank you for reaching out and sharing your issue. I hope all of this information's are helpful. We look forward on your response.

When you connect an external hard drive that already has Xbox games on it to an Xbox console for the first time, it can take a bit of time to catalogue the contents and populate "My games & apps", but that only needs to be done once.

The same thing applies when you do a factory reset. When you choose the "keep games and apps" option, all that does is keep the contents of the "User Content" partition on the console's internal drive, rather than wiping it out, so it doesn't actually affect externals at all. But because you've done a factory reset, it will need to re-catalogue the contents of your external, so just leave it for a bit and eventually all 166 games will show up, then you'll be good from then on.
