I deleted my microsoft account but my gamertag is still showing up

Gamertags cannot be deleted. You would have had to change the Gamertag on your old account to free it up for use on a new account. There is no way to do that now that you have deleted the Microsoft account. You do have 60 days to recover the account though Reopen your Microsoft account - Microsoft Support

Tried deleting my account and clearing my cache, my old gamertag Is still showing up In partys for me and It's almost been a week since I changed It. I'm just completely lost at this point. My gamertag has never taken this long to update.

Hi. No it isn't showing both at the same time. When I turn on xbox it shows my new gamertag. But whenever I go online it shows the old one. Playing mw3. Multilayer with my friends they are still seeing the old gamertag. When I log in to Microsoft online it shows my new gamertag.

I've cleared cache on the xbox. Deleted profile and added again and still not updating.

I have 2 accounts. My original xbox account had my gamertag changed from the default one to the one it has now (the gamertag I would like to have) and I have my new account which I had as a Microsoft account before they were merged. My Microsoft account is what I use everything for, but I want to have my Xbox gamertag on that account. That account was set up as an Xbox account, and when I tried to change the gamertag for it, the limit for characters was 12. So in short I have had the gamertag in the past, and still do. But it needs to be put onto a different account. And to be clear, the gamertag is the only thing I care about from my original account. If I can get my Microsoft account to have my gamertag I would likely delete my old account entirely.
