I created an Outlook Account and a Hotmail want to sign up for XBOX have some questions

I'll try and answer some of the technical questions, but I'm a console gamer. So PC gaming question may have to answered by another community member.

1 & 2 - Outlook, Hotmail and Live are all aliases of a Microsoft email account. When signing up for a Microsoft account, you can use one of these or you can use an existing email address, if you already have one (e.g. Gmail or Yahoo). You don't need to create a Microsoft alias when signing up for MS account.

3 - Your Xbox will use the email address you used to sign-up a Microsoft account with (see above),

4 - If you want to use a Microsoft alias, I would go for an Outlook account, but there really is no difference between the three.

5 - What type of storage are you look for?

6 - No. It is recommended to use a completely different email account. The reason they ask for this is just in case you get locked out of your account. If you use an email address linked this account, you will not to be able to get access to recovery options.

The rest may need to answered by someone who plays these games, but I hope the above has given you some insight.

Unfortunately, I created the outlook address literally an hour after they started enrolling and snagged THE email address I wanted…., not knowing you could rename the Hotmail account. From what I’ve been told at Microsoft Answers.com. you cannot change
or merge Hotmail and Outlook accounts once they have been created separately, nor can you use an existing Outlook account as an alias to another account.

Right now I use my gmail address to sign in to hotmail/outlook, xbox, and zune. If I change that to my @outlook address will it screw anything up with zune pass or my xbox gamertag and acheivments? And will I then sign in using the @outlook address across
all accounts?

Since outlook is already a Microsoft server email it is not possible to use the outlook email you can add another email alias that is not a Microsoft server email (@outlook.com, @live.com, @msn.com) or you can create a new outlook email in the process of
adding an alias to the account at account.live.com/addassocid and it will put that new outlook account on the hotmail account or you can use any non MS email account.

Now keep this in mind you can have multiple aliases that you use to sign into accounts with (if they are not already a Microsoft account)

If you do add a new alias to your hotmail account and decide to remove your hotmail email from the account that will render the hotmail account null and void and you will never be able to get it back.

so do not remove the hotmail email from the account if you ever think you will need it for anything in the future

Ok, so if i create an alias and i remove my hotmail email i will not be able to use the hotmail email, but will i lose all the data and achievements of the xbox account? (i hope not...)

You will not the only thing that you would be doing is changing the email address that you use to sign into the account with.
