I changed my gamertag days ago, but I still haven't seen any changes in games. I saw people say it takes as long as 48 hrs, but it has been much longer than 48hrs now. My new gamertag contains some characters other than letters, not sure if that's the reason.

That would be the reason. Not all games or even some Xbox areas have been updated to work with the new gamertag system which includes special characters, so your old tag would still be attached to your account to be shown in those areas.

I'm not sure if this helps. But I changed my gamertag while this was happening, Not beforehand. The problem started about 30-40 days ago. As of today still happening, I changed my gamertag about a week ago. I'll reach out to support again though.

Hello, I have the same issue. A couple days ago I changed my Xbox user but to no avail. The money used went through. It has been 2 days since then and my user still hasn't changed.

After purchasing the product it stated "Something went wrong. Try your gamertag again". yet money was still withdrawn.

I have signed in and out and checked my order history. It has appeared completed but my gamertag is still yet to change.
