I can't voice chat on any headset, no matter if it is a party or a game chat. Any suggestions?

Not game audio, game chat.

In settings, Xbox has an option to make party chat output go through your headset, headset and TV, or TV.

but that's only for party chat. i've always wondered why xbox can't do the same for in-game chat too?

With in game chat, if your headset is plugged in; game chat automatically goes to the headset, with no option to have it output through TV.

really sucks when you can't wear headsets, you can't play socially outside of parties. (in party chat; i use my headset mic, but have their voice output through my TV. game chat has no option to do this, you must wear your headset to hear teammates)

The problem is that I can no longer talk, listen to party chat and listen to game chat on the same headset as I once could.

I can listen to game chat and party chat on the same headphones, but the xbox/controller doesn't send the audio form my microphone to any service.

People in my party can not hear me, and when I record messages, there is nothing recorded.

I can, however, hear my own voice when a certain setting is turned on, on the xbox. (I can't remember the name of this setting right now)

My mic is not muted in any hardware control or any xbox setting that I know of.

on any game or certain ones? have you tried send a voice clip or party chats? to see if the problem could be your mic/headset

It's not a party, can't invite any other people to it, it's literally a voice chat between two people. There isn't a way to start a normal party chat then invite multiple people.

From day one, the Kinect voice chat has not worked with Ghosts, unless if you are in a party. Any party disabled game modes will kick you out of party chat or now allow you to play the mode. There is no game chat option to speak through Kinect, so talking
with randoms or in lobbies is a no go. You need a mic on a headset for that, either the one that came with your xbox one, or a 3rd party headset that you buy the Microsoft puck adapter for.
