I can't the microphone on my wired headset to work

I just bought a new headset because my old one is falling apart. This headset works perfectly in terms of audio, but theicrophone doesn't work. I have looked through all of the settings, looked at several posts, tried the mic on my phone and it works, and tried the mic on my old wireless headset, and it works fine. It's just that the wired one does not. Please may I have some assistance?

I am on the Xbox One X.

The headset I purchased was the KVIDIO model WH201A. Yes I am connecting to the controller.

Thanks for your response Adriel, may I know if you have more Xbox controllers and if you tested the headset with them?

If you're not able to test with a different controller may I know if your Xbox wireless controller and the console are on the latest firmware version?

What console are you using? Or is this happening on PC?

What headset is the one that you purchased recently?

Are you connecting the headset to the headphone jack of the controller if maybe you're on PC?

Hi Adriel, I was checking and saw that this is a wireless headset.
May I know if the cable that you're using with it is a 3.5mm jack on both sides?
And, may I know if you tried using a different 3.5mm jack cable to see if that helps?

I have already updated my controller to the latest firmware, and while I only have one controller, I have tested other wired headphones in the past and have had the same problem
