    I can’t talk in party’s but I can still hear other people, how do I fix this?


    So I ran into a very specific issue with my party chat. So the initial issue was that when my console lost power via moving it or power going out etc when the console was turned back on it would display the date and time December 23 2019 (on a Xbox series x) and would claim that the console was last updated then wile still having all the newer features. After contacting Xbox support about it they had me restart my console and keep all my games and apps. After that it seemed the issue was resolved. Then I had joined a group post and they invited me to a party and soon after joining I noticed that I couldn’t talk so I made sure that my Xbox wireless headset was assigned to my profile, that it was synced to my Xbox and that the mic was working by sending a voice message to a friend. So I call Xbox support back and after a wile they tell me that they are gonna pass this up to someone who is more experienced in the topic. I received an email from Microsoft saying that I should add a video to this private file exchange so they could further examine the problem. It’s been 3 days now I’ve gotten no response from them and am still paying the price for the full online experience and not being able to talk to friends.

    I realize what I said may be confusing. In a party chat, I can hear my friends but I can’t talk.

    Hello, what model and brand you bought from headset and are using, it is wired or wireless?

    If wired, there are two pinout patterns on the market, CTIA and OMTP.

    Open Mobile Terminal Platform (OMTP)

    If you use an OMTP headset, you'll probably have problems with audio or chat. However, if your headset or headphones use the OMTP standard, you can purchase an adapter to convert it to CTIA. These adapters are available in many e-retail stores.

    The following images show the differences between the CTIA and OMTP patterns. The CTIA standard displays the microphone section of the connector closest to the end of the cable; the OMTP standard displays the grounding section of the connector closest to the end of the cable."

    I also have the same issue with the Xbox app where you can’t hear anyone in a party until you start talking then I can hear others. When I’m not talking, I don’t hear anyone even though I see their circle glow up indicating that they’re talking.

    Unfortunately, none of these answers fixed this for me. Update though: looks like I can hear everything the other people in my Fortnite party is saying, they just can’t hear me. The weirder thing is, when I squad up with randos, the mic works just fine.
    I can hear them and they can hear me. Again, same thing when I’m in an Xbox Live party. The only thing that doesnt work is my mic when I’m in a regular Fortnite party (not in an Xbox Live party).
