I can't sign up for Xbox live rewards even though I have Xbox gold membership

Discus and support I can't sign up for Xbox live rewards even though I have Xbox gold membership in XBoX Rewards & Social to solve the problem; can anyone help me? I have tried to join Xbox live rewards but every time I try I get a message saying "I cannot join Xbox live rewards strictly...     I can't sign up for Xbox live rewards even though I have Xbox gold membership


    can anyone help me?

    I have tried to join Xbox live rewards but every time I try I get a message saying "I cannot join Xbox live rewards strictly because I don't have a Xbox gold membership" The thing is I have gold membership for 5 years now!

    I contacted Xbox support and they could figure it out and told me to contact offline support on forums.xbox.com and they will help

    Has anyone else had this problem and fixed it?

    Xbox Live Gold Questions

    I have a few questions about Xbox Live Gold.

    1) I want to start a trial Xbox Live Gold membership by purchasing my membership with Bing rewards points. If I do I need to sign up for a monthly/yearly plan with a credit card?

    2) If I purchase the Xbox Live Gold Membership with Bing rewards points does that constitute me being a 'paid member' to download games for gold?

    3)if I download Games for gold for the 360 and I cancel my membership am I still able to play those downloaded games? (I understand that you cannot for the Xbox one and I did not see such language for the 360 though)

    I have tried to join Xbox rewards but I get a message saying I cannot join Xbox live rewards strictly because I don't have an Xbox live membership! The thing is I do have a gold membership for the last 4 years!

    Can anyone help?

    Will remaining Live Gold Trial days be added to a new gold subscription and can I get Reward points with a trial?

    Hi there Bl4chSh33p,

    As per the Xbox Live Rewards FAQ, trial memberships may not be eligible for Xbox Live Rewards. See here: "Xbox Live Rewards can only recognize paid monthly or yearly standard, non-promotional Xbox Live Gold memberships. If you have a different type of membership,
    we may not be able to recognize you as an Xbox Live Rewards Gold member."

    Purchasing an Xbox Live subscription while on a trial SHOULD add the remaining days of the trial to your subscription. I'm not 100% certain on that though.

    That's not the problem. I can't even join Live, never mind add a Gold membership. I did try adding the Gold membership on the Xbox as well as joining Live on the Xbox but they both produce the same error. When I signed onto Xbox.com with the idea of using
    my card online, it automatically created this account (I didn't sign up or anything). But this account doesn't show up as linked on the Xbox nor does it show my achievements online. So I feel like adding a Gold membership online would be a quick way to lose
    30 dollars thanks to whatever error is occurring.

    Promotional subscriptions are not eligible for Rewards, as stated in our FAQ:

    —My Xbox Live Rewards account is not recognizing my Xbox Live Gold membership. What should I do?

    Xbox Live Rewards can only recognize paid monthly or yearly standard, non-promotional Xbox Live Gold memberships. If you have a different type of membership, we may not be able to recognize you as an Xbox Live Rewards Gold member.
