I can't play games that I own because it says I need game pass even though I haven't had it...

Thanks for coming to the forums. You will need to request a call from support and go over this with them as they will be the ones to assist you in this situation.

When you go to Contact Us, follow these steps to request a call from support:

• Step 1 ----click on Contact us
  
• Step 2 ----under what you having trouble with select Subscriptions & billing
  
• Step 3-----under what is the issue I can't redeem a code then hit next
  
  Step 4 ----scroll down to select request a call
  

Once they call explain the issue and they will be able to help you. Note that these options regularly change so just keep selecting something that gives request a call from support as a contact option.

I have just spent 30mins on the phone to xbox live to be told i must have used the game via game share as there is no record of me purchasing the game. The chap I spoke with couldn’t grasp it was a free download a year ago as I already owned the xbox one
edition. I wouldn’t hold your breath

Not sure who you are replying to, just in case it is me I owned the game before I used gamepass. I have also played the game numerous times since my game pass subscription expired in December.

Same here! I bought this game and I have never ever bought the game pass so it doesn’t even make sense that I would need to renew the pass to play? It just happened a few minutes ago. I literally just played the game this morning and everything was perfectly
fine. I hope this is just a bug and Microsoft fixes this. Because otherwise, I will be very upset about losing a world I’ve spend nearly 2 years on 😳

Do a hard reset on your console, hold down the power button for ~5 seconds until it turns off. Also go to settings, storage and space and clear your cache. This should help!
