    I can't play games due to holding down keys not working right


    Hi,

    I have been having an issue with my laptop for a couple days now. Like a true gamer, I prefer to have my controls as wasd. However I have noticed while playing games such as toontown and minecraft that when I hold down certain keys for certain periods of time the characters will suddenly stop when the key is held down for a long period of time or when I am trying to turn with the "a" and "d" keys. As for minecraft, I have noticed that my computer won't let me hold down shift and thus I end up falling off of cliffs and into rivers. Does anyone know what kind of setting I need to mess with to fix this kind of issue? I don't think it's the hardware itself because I have a spare keyboard and the same thing happened.

    Thanks for coming to the Xbox Community for support. You mentioned that you're using your laptop and whenever you play games like toontown or minecraft that certain keys will stop working.

    It's highly recommended to go to the device manufacturer website for your laptop and download/install the latest keyboard for your driver, the shift key sticking is a tell that the drivers may not be up to date. We also recommend making sure all windows updates are completed.

    Same issues with Logitech G15 USB keyboard in desktop pc.

    Playing Battlefield 5 holding down keys to turn or run stop working and have to release all keys and repress to restart required action.

    Worked fine with Windows 10.

    All drivers are latest.

    But to be clear (although I've marked this as the Answer)... you need to hold down the [Right ALT] key and not ALT-Right (arrow).

    Hi,

    I take it you can't press the green 'Let's Go' button?

    On your keyboard hold down ALT key and tap the TAB key key to switch Windows so that the 'Let's Go' window is selected. With this Window selected, press the tab key (just on it's own) to select the green button and then press enter on the keyboard.

    I had the same problem when I tried the game recently.
