    I can't get my Xbox 360 to recognize my Xbox Live account


    I'm trying to connect my Xbox 360 Profile to my preexisting Xbox live account. If I try to Sign Up for Xbox Live with the option on the 360 menu, it tells me my email is already in use. If I try using the option to download an existing account, it tells me there's a problem with the credentials I'm using to sign in, and gives me an error code: 801540A9. I've tried clearing my cache, looking up tutorials online, etc. but nothing is giving me results. If it helps, I do also have an Xbox Series X, which I am also signed in on, though I don't know if or why that would prevent me from using my account on an earlier gen console. I also think my Xbox 360 profile is a child account, though I don't know how to change that, as the only profile I think is a parent does not have a family tab in the Microsoft account website. Is there a way to fix this, or do I just need to make a new account?

    For this error, you need to associate your child account to a Family group with an adult account on it.

    - Ask your parents to sign in to https://account.microsoft.com/family/ and select Add a family member. If they don't have an account, ask them to create one.

    - Enter the email address of your child account. This will send an invitation to your email address.

    - Sign out of your Microsoft account and sign in to the child account.

    - Select the button labeled Sign in and accept.

    - Then, try to remove and add your profile again to your Xbox 360 console.

    This did help, I was able to download my profile to the 360. However I was wondering if it was possible to link the Xbox Live account to a preexisting Xbox profile on the console?

    Oh I'm sorry, I misunderstood your question. Unfortunately it is not possible to merge accounts or transfer anything between accounts. You will be able to play online on Xbox with your Live account OR only offline with your local 360 profile.

    There's no way to "link" these accounts.

    It's not located in an advantageous position to do so. Anywyas, I don't have an adapter, and my Xbox Live account recognizes my Xbox One as my "home Xbox", so I'm not sure what would happen if I gave my 360 a connection to my account and bought something
    meant for it, as the 360 is not recognized as my "home Xbox."

    It could be an Xbox Live issue. Some of my 360 discs look like absolute garbage and still gets recognized by my xbox one.
